about

At 17 I was just starting to write songs and I thought going to a Film Compendium for a title was a fab idea- I had NO IDEA it was a (famous)Johnny Cash song till too late. Stylistically I admired Iggy Pop's New Values title track from 1977, and lyrically was inspired by Skyhooks songs referencing Melbourne suburbs, hence the locations of Fitzroy St StKilda, Eton Square, Flinders St Station, Leo's Spagetti Bar, Chasers Chapel St, etc.. Also performed a reworked version in a later band The Feet complete with horn section. Check out Apache Run album 'Original Wayne' on Bandcamp.
